In keeping with the twisted fairytale theme, i thought i'd include these works by Brisbane artist Courtney Brims. I came across some of her illustrations in the last Yen magazine and decided to check out her other works... and was inspired

Akina

Akina is the creation of Australian designer Lang Leav. In her works fairytales are twisted into a topsy turvy world where heroines become the villans. These quirky illustrations are seemingly sweet but have a dark and sinister edge. She released a limited edition book of her tales, as well as applies her works to clothing which i would describe as a victorian/gothic feel, as well as jewellery and little badges. The packaging of her designs alone are simply beautiful. Wished i'd managed to get a copy of her book, but all her designs sell out fast! You can find more at www.akina.com.au

Simon McEwan

I absolutely love these hand made brooches from Simon's "Lost in the Woods" collection which i first discovered at Alice of Euphemia boutique (amazing store if you're ever in melbourne). Nadia Flower

Nadia Flower is a talented fashion illustrator and graphic/textile designer based in New Zealand.  Her works are varying combinations of hand drawn and computer based imagery that evolve into captivating imagery- sometimes with a darker edge. Birdy & Me

Kelly Smith is an Australian free-lance fashion illustrator who's whimsical illustrations draw the viewer into a fashion fueled wonderland. Her work had been featured in publications such as Yen, Curvy 5 and Semi Permanent 08.
